FALL IS COMING! I am already getting excited to bust out the fall decor... it's never too early... right? I got inspired this season to make some more pumpkins (you can never have too many pumpkins), but with some pattern to them. These pumpkins are perfect for adding some festive autumn pops of pattern and color to dining tables, coffee tables, consoles, or around the fireplace. I hope you have as much fun making this FREE Striped Pumpkin Pattern as I did designing it!

FALL PUMPKINS CROCHET PATTERN PDF (Gingham + Houndstooth Pumpkins)
Free Small Striped Pumpkin Crochet Pattern
What you'll need:
• 5 mm crochet hook
• 100 yds of light green yarn (size 4)
• 50 yds of white yarn (size 4)
• 15 yds of orange yarn (size 4)
• A crochet marker
• Yarn Needle
2”x2” Gauge: ~ 7 stitches x 7 rows
Dimensions: 6 inches wide x 5 inches tall (including stem)
Pattern Key:
st = stitch
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
rnd = round
sc = single crochet
BLO = back loop only
inc = increase
PUMPKIN
• start with light green yarn
row 1: ch 23. Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc into the back bump of each ch (22)
rows 2-3: sc into the BLO of each st (22)
• change to white yarn
row 4: sc into the BLO of each st (22)
• change to green yarn
rows 5-7: sc into the BLO of each st (22)
• change to white yarn
rows 8-59: [repeat rows 4-7] 13 times (22)
• change to white yarn
row 60: sc into the BLO of each st (22)
• change to green yarn
• after turning your work, fold work in half to line up short ends together
row 61: join ends together with a sl st into each st (22)
• fasten off leaving long end
• flip work inside out
• using the long end, weave along the edge of the open circle of one side, and pull tight to close as much as you can
• sew along the edge of the hole in the opposite direction until hole closes
• tie off yarn to secure, then hide yarn ends into the center of the pumpkin
• attach a very long piece of green yarn (about 3 ft long) to the edge of the other side that needs to be closed
• weave along the edge of the open circle, and pull tight to close as much as you can
• stuff the pumpkin
• sew along the edge of the hole in the opposite direction until hole closes
• tie off yarn to secure
• create pumpkin indents (see below)
CREATING INDENTS
Note: you will wrap the yarn around the pumpkin 3 times, dividing it into 6 sections
• wrap yarn around center of entire pumpkin, dividing it in half, try to place green yarn in the center of green stripe sections, and pull tight to create indents
• insert needle into yarn in center of pumpkin and secure with a knot
• now wrap the yarn around the pumpkin again, this time off-set from the first indent by 45 degrees, dividing one half section of the pumpkin by a third
• insert needle into yarn in center of pumpkin and secure with a knot
• wrap yarn around pumpkin one more time, off-set from the last indent by 45 degrees, diving the remaining 2/3rd into thirds
• tie off yarn to secure, then hide any yarn ends into the center of the pumpkin
PUMPKIN STEM
• using orange yarn
• working in a continuous round
rnd 1: sc 4 into magic circle (4)
rnd 2: [sc 1, inc] 2 times (6)
rnds 3-5: sc into each st (6)
rnd 6: [sc 1, inc] 3 times (9)
rnd 7: [sc 2, inc] 3 times (12)
• fasten off, leaving a long end for sewing on the stem
• stuff stem
• sew on the stem to the top center of your pumpkin
